“Swamped” – John Fleming’s Solo Show Opens July 2nd, 2009 at the Whitestone Gallery

I have recently been inspired by a landscape that I had not previously paid much mind –  A walk through Luther Marsh Conservation Area struck a chord with me and I began taking time to appreciate the swamps immediately around my neighbourhood.  Then I started going for long aimless drives down back roads so that I might happen upon them – apparently they are everywhere – and they are ‘beautiful’.  I have come to the conclusion that the wetlands that dot our countryside are Mother-Nature’s way of saying, “…screw-you urban sprawl..”  My show (my first ever), ‘Swamped’ is a celebration of ‘The Mother’s’ passive-aggressive message.
