History and Disclaimer
Whitestone Gallery is a small gallery run by volunteers and has no paid staff. Started as a student project, it continues to exist through the volunteer efforts of many people who donate their time to help plan exhibitions and participation in community events. We are located in a historic building in downtown Guelph that was originally built as a foundry. THE BUILDING IS NOT CURRENTLY WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. Some of our events are held in accessible locations, such as at street level in front of the gallery, and this will be indicated in the event listing.
Providing goods and services to people with disabilities
Whitestone Gallery is committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities :
- We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.
- Telephone services: We are committed to providing fully accessible telephone service to our customers. Volunteers will strive to communicate with customers over the telephone in clear and plain language and to speak clearly and slowly.
- Volunteers will offer to communicate with customers by e-mail if telephone communication is not suitable to their communication needs or is not available.
- Assistive devices: We are committed to serving people with disabilities who use assistive devices to obtain, use or benefit from our goods and services. Our volunteers endeavor to help, to the best of their abilities, anyone requiring assistance .
Use of service animals and support persons
We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal on the parts of our premises that are open to the public and third parties.
We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a support person. A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises. Fees will not be charged for support persons.
